Contents related to classes

Details of classes are provided on the school website (https://www.yonsei.ac.kr/wj/support/class1.jsp).

Course registration period

It is implemented two weeks before the beginning of each semester and is publicly announced on the website(https://portal.yonsei.ac.kr).

Course registration confirmation and change period

It will be held a week after the start of each semester's class, and you must confirm your course, etc.

How to register and change courses

  • Yonsei University website(http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr)
  • Major Academic
    Service
  • undergraduate
    enrollment
  • registrations and changes for
    undergraduate classes

Precautions for Course Registration

  • All undergraduate students must apply for classes themselves during the course application period, and if they do not apply for the course, they will be expelled because they cannot handle their grades, so please pay special attention
  • When applying for a course, the number of each subject type (common, required, optional, instructional, bridge) and the academic record number and division number must be accurately specified. Subjects other than the above five are not allowed.
  • Please pay special attention not to fall short of your graduation requirements.
  • Each semester's enrollment is limited to 18 credits.
  • Mandatory major, basic liberal arts, and university education cannot be replaced by courses other than those offered at EIC.
  • Classes of more than 3000 units in the department of international relations, business administration and economics are recognized as poly and econ track majors. However, from the 2020-2 course to other majors (ex, original course, NCS, etc.) that are not related to the major cannot be recognized as majors (Korean classes can be up to 15 credits, from 20 to 21 credits).
  • No separate document procedure for credit recognition except exchange student
  • ’성서와 기독교’is not recognized as 'THE BIBLE & CHRISTIANITY' and '성서와 기독교' is not for EIC students.
  • Students must complete the second foreign language (3) or (4) level from 18th grade.
  • Retake: Courses with an F or NP grade can be retaken.
*When retaking a course, the first class score will be deleted, not included in the credits and grades, and the report card indicates that the course is retake.

Limitation of Korean lectures

  • Possible up to 21 credits for Korean language courses

Second foreign language class exemption system

  • If you take the upper (3), (4) level class during the second foreign language class and get a B- or higher, the class at the lower level will be exempted. However, please note that the exempted credits are not included in the total credits, so you need to fill 126 credits with other classes.

※ Taking level (2) course does not exempt you from level (1)
※ From class of 18 you must complete steps (3) or (4) of a second foreign language.

  • Example: If you complete CHINESE LANGUAGE (3) and receive B- or higher, CHINESE LANGUAGE (1) and (2) will be exempted and will be deemed to have completed 9 out of 12 credits for a second language class. In this case, you must complete 3 more credits in the second foreign language class, and the remaining 6 credits are not included in the total credits, so you must fill the other classes with other credits. By the same logic, if you complete CHINESE LANGUAGE (4) and receive B- or higher, steps (1), (2), and (3) will be exempted and considered to have met all the criteria for a second language class.

Confirmation, modification, withdrawal of enrollment

  • All undergraduates who have applied for classes must check whether their application for classes has been processed correctly during the "Checking and Changing Period of Course Applications," and if there is a mistake or any change, they must change it within this period.
  • If you want to withdraw a course, you can withdraw it during the designated withdrawal period and it is rated W.

Other precautions

  • In principle, changes to the course enrollment once submitted are not permitted.
  • All students must enter their latest contact information in the address and phone number boxes on the academic information system
