Using Public Transportation in Korea

 

[Bus]

The Seoul bus system is one of the most efficient and convenient in the world.

Buses run at regularly timed intervals and are tracked by GPS to show waiting passengers when the next vehicle will be arriving. Many bus stops even include live updates on LED screens above the waiting area. While the announcements and tracking systems make an effort to be as clear as possible to all users, a good amount of the information is only displayed in Korean.

For this reason, those unfamiliar with Korean may find it beneficial to research your route numbers and write down the stop names beforehand.

- But #30, #31 and #34 come to our campus. You can take those buses to get back to the campus from downdown. If you want to visit downtown, you can take a bus stop across from the Sports Center. The fare is 1,400 KRW. 

 

[Taxi]

If you want to take a taxi from campus, calling a taxi would be easier and faster than trying to get it from the front gate of Yonsei University MIRAE Campus. You can actually call a taxi company or use app (Kakao T, etc.) The basic meter rate is KRW 3,300.

 

[Subway in Seoul]

Even without any Korean language background, one can easily navigate Seoul subways in English, Chinese, and even Japanese. There is plenty of English signage and is very affordable. With a transportation card, one is able to transfer between bus and subway without being charged again.
