Institute for Poverty Alleviation and International Development (IPAID)
was established on March 23, 2010 (Founding Director: Professor Pan Suk Kim, 2010-2013) as an university-based research institution founded on the restructured expansion of the Institute of Regional Studies and Development, which was established in 1990 at Yonsei University. 

IPAID takes a multi-disciplinary approach on global poverty alleviation policy research through forums, conferences, policy analysis, training, volunteering opportunities, scholar exchange programs, and the publication of journals. 

By being located within the College of Government and Business at Yonsei University Mirae Campus, IPAID benefits from wealth of resources including a world-renowned faculty and collaboration with research centers at the College of Government and Business; the College of Science & Technology; the College of Biological Science & Technology; the Business School; the College of Health Sciences; Division of East-Asia Studies from College of Humanities & Social Science Convergnce; and the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation. 

IPAID’s undertaking to reducing poverty is based on Yonsei University’s founding philosophy of “Truth and Freedom” in its responsibility to create the next generation of leaders who will make a positive contribution to humanity. IPAID is an example of Yonsei University’s long-term commitment of service to the global community by addressing the threat of poverty and coming up with vital solutions that could someday provide economic security for millions of people.
